Job Purpose
The Senior R&D manager is the one who will be tasked with creating (defining, recruiting and training) the CSPC R&D team whose role will be to ensure that CSPC will durably play into the industry leaders category of the PC industry through Product Development and Technology Innovation.
The Senior R&D manager will define winning strategies and plans for Product and Process Development, Application support to customers and Innovation in the space of PC Technology to ensure sustainable value growth and an optimal product mix for the medium and long term strategies of PC in CSPC.
Together with the PC commercial manager the PC Senior R&D manager will ensure that the technology development (product, process, application) durably and sustainable creates a valuable PC business for CSPC.
Ultimately the PC Senior R&D manager is responsible for the development/R&D work which is carried out on the PC Product development line, the PC Application and Analytic Laboratory, the PC Bench Scale unit and the PC Glassware equipment.

Key Relationship(s)
The role will have vast interactions with CSPC internal (including commercial, technical, technology, all service functions) and external contacts (incl co-producers, customers, distributors and market intelligent agents etc.).
Principal Accountabilities
1.Product development and product innovation
- provide technical leadership to the Polycarbonate R&D team with respect to polycarbonate product and resin expertise in particular the synthesis of commercial products and the development of new high-end, differentiated polycarbonate products.
- be able to organize and technically steer the process of product development from the application needs of a particular customer set until the delivery of a technical recipe to the commercial plant
- manage and ensure a sufficient product innovation funnel is generated and maintained through technology work such that CSPC remains a first quartile player in the PC industry
- Initiate and organize appropriate work processes that guarantee robust product development which deliver fit for purpose product to customers and applicable recipes for the manufacturing plant
2.Process optimization and improvement
-Initiate and steer major PC process optimization initiatives or projects (such as revamps) that require the involvement and expertise of the PC technology team
-Ensure that the P&C R&D team supports with relevant expertise the technologist responsible for the day-to-say support of the manufacturing plant (for the avoidance of doubt, the PC R&D team should not be involved or support the day-to-day operation of the commercial plant
3.Technical service
-Organize and initiate the work processes that ensure all customer complaints or customer feedbacks are properly integrated into the R&D experience of the PC organization and solved in time.

1.Educational background:
?A minimum of PHD degree (preferably in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science), with at least 10-15 years of working experience in the domain of PC R&D and technology management with a high degree of industrial recognition, including a deep insight into PC product, technology, marketing involvement and future trends.
2.Work experience:
-Relevant experience in R&D and technology management including experience in product innovation, new product launch, go-to-market
strategy and technical service
-Have a good track record of success with > 8 years hands-on experience in at least three disciplines selected from the following:
omelt-PC process and catalyst technology (vs interfacial process),
oPC synthesis chemistry,
oPolymer processing (e.g., extrusion, injection molding),
oPC analytics (including Raw/additive),
onew PC recipe development,
onew PC product launch & strategy, material failure analysis
oTechnical service in PC
-Innovation & IP management with related experience, namely several (5 or more) own international patents in the related disciplines (e.g., polymerization process, product development, and application technology).
-Relevant team management experience including ability to generate commitment and results in multi-disciplinary environments;
-Proven ability/ Broad knowledge to build R&D capabilities from basics
3.Language proficiency:
?Fluency in oral and written English, Mandarin
4.PC skills:
?Competent in Microsoft Office.
?Data analytics and statistics
