Reports to: YueCheng Parkside Kindergarten Principal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
? Promotes the values and mission of YCPK.
? Working with the principal, develops, implements and reviews school-wide policies and procedures.
? Leads the development and maintenance of a positive working environment for staff.
? Leads the development and maintenance of a calm, caring, and appropriately challenging learning environment for children.
? Ensures that classroom teaching and learning is consistent with and supports the YCPK guiding statements.
? Develops a deep understanding of the kindergartens’ curriculum and assessment policies & practices.
? Leads the process of developing or reviewing the kindergartens’ scope and sequence documents.
? Leads the program’s documentation, assessment and reporting procedures.
? Working with the principal and teachers, ensures programs are provided which will cater for children across the full spectrum of learning abilities i.e. programs that cater for children with learning needs as well as children identified as gifted and talented learners.
? Ensures continuity and transition for all children.
? Keeps abreast of current research in relevant areas of Early Years teaching, learning and curriculum development.
? Leads the professional development / learning opportunities for staff. Advises staff of opportunities to participate in and contribute to ongoing professional development activities which provide children with optimum learning opportunities and which promote the YueCheng Education programs.
? Co-teach, co-plan and model lessons with teachers.
? Observes (non-evaluative) lessons and provides feedback for teachers’ professional growth and learner success.
? Assists with orientating and mentoring new teachers.
? Mentor teachers with facilitating collaborative team meetings.
? Support the YCE Public Affairs Department’s understanding of academic procedures, practices and curriculum.
? Acts as a parent liaison, informing and educating parents on curriculum programs and initiatives.

Qualifications
? Mother tongue fluency in written and oral Chinese.
? Oral and written English language proficiency.
? Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
? Education degree, certification and extensive experience in teaching and leading across the Early Years.
? Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching and management practices.
? Proficiency in and capacity to role model the use of innovative Early Years educational pedagogies especially in Reggio approach and play-based learning.
? Capacity to mentor and offer professional leadership to academic teams.
